Just got back on Sunday night from The Melbourne Design Market at Federation Square, and as usual it all got a little crazy. This time around we were planning to launch the new A4 mount – tentatively named the Display 4. But unfortunately I got hit with a long list of problems which meant the few weeks leading up to the market were very stressful as prototypes failed, materials used didn’t deliver as expected and new issues arose.
The goal has always been to make the Display4 as easy to use as the photocurator and by the time The Melbourne Design Market rolled around I just couldn’t get it ready in time. Elizabeth, who organises the event was very understanding which was a great relief – if you’re reading this Elizabeth as soon as I have one ready for production it will be on it’s way!
The market itself just keeps delivering. If you are from Melbourne you have to come along to experience it. The quality of the design doesn’t get much better and the buzz comes very close to a true festival atmosphere.
As usual I found myself spending too much on bags of great stuff, usually for friends and family – although I did treat myself to a Karim Rashid designed Bobble http://www.waterbobble.com/ which has at last been brought to Australia by RG Madden.
Thanks to everyone who came down and said hello and gave such wonderful feedback it really makes those stressful moments dissolve. And as always thanks to Steve who came down to help out, I just wouldn’t have survived if I had to do it by myself! Hopefully see you again Melbourne – this time with the Display4!!
